On Friday, December 19th, SCA employees volunteered their time assisting Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support with their 2014 holiday community outreach event. While spreading holiday cheer, SCA employees found themselves organizing family gifts, wrapping gifts and assisting with family gift pick-ups.
Genesis’ mission is to end the epidemic of domestic violence against women and children by stopping individual victimization and reducing the devastating impact of family violence through safety, shelter and expert services to battered women and their children.
This continues to be one of SCA’s favorite events to be involved in. SCA is extremely proud of its employees’ commitment to service and continued involvement within the community. Thanks to them, we are able to help make a difference. As this season of giving comes to an end, please take time to support a cause close to your hearts.
Earlier that week, SCA held its inaugural Ugly Christmas Sweater party and were challenged to create human Christmas decorations with items from around the office and a supplied craft kit. Team Christmas Tree prevailed as the winning team. Happy Holidays from SCA!
About Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support
Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support was established in 1985 as a shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence. They are committed to preventing violence by raising the level of community awareness regarding the pervasiveness and effects of domestic violence.
Each year, Genesis serves hundreds of women and children through its residential programs, with hundreds more receiving counseling services at its Outreach facility. The families who walk through their doors are escaping unspeakable violence and their goal is to provide them with all the tools they need through its unique and free programming. From the moment a woman picks up the phone to call the hotline, to her arrival at the Shelter, to ongoing counseling for her and her children, Genesis Women's Shelter & Support is there to help her navigate the difficult road and achieve success she once only dreamed possible.
Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support operates solely through private donations and fundraising events. For additional information, visit www.genesisshelter.org. For the latest news and events on Genesis, visit www.facebook.com/GenesisWomensShelter.
